Special Note: Penguin Availability

It should be borne in mind that the penguins at Flea Bay are wild. Nonetheless, you can be virtually guaranteed of seeing penguins between September to mid-February, and a high chance between mid-April and end of June. There is slim or no possibility between mid-February to mid-April, however Maossie Tours runs this day-tour for much of the year since the scenic nature safari remains a very interesting activity even in the “off-season”, i.e. even when penguins are not in the area the safari offers additional sites and wildlife. Reviews

What a spectacular trip this was. We were picked up from our hotel and given an amazing tour of the local area on the way to see some penguins. Full of knowledge and two of the most lovely people to have guide you. They made us feel so special and made sure we were looked after all day. If you have any reservations about going on this tour, don’t. Book it now.           Ryan W.

Toured with Gary and Nicole on our second full day in Christchurch. They treated our family of four in VIP style, from goodie bags, comfortable transportation and WiFi to stops at unique cafes/bakeries and beautiful scenery/historical locations. Having young boys, the Penguin aspect of this tour spurred our interest, but we are so grateful to have fully immersed in the Banks Peninsula and it's unique history and influence on the culture of the region. With Pohatu Penguins, while we knew the chances of seeing the adult penguins was not certain, we were able to view several nesting pens, taking in the beauty of the young creatures and their unique coloring. What we may have missed in first hand viewing, our guide Benjamin filled in educating us on the conservation efforts and daily life with these unique creatures. A gem of a tour, would join Gary and Nicole again for certain.          Schaftravels
